VOC limit values and FAQ published for Belgian VOC regulation

An indicative list was published containing the LCI limit values for Belgium. These shall be used for showing compliance with the Belgian decree on low VOC emissions from construction products. This list is just indicative because in any case, the limit values of the decree have priority. The decree specified limit values for 5 of the VOCs on the list that are different, and it includes limit values for some sum parameters such as the TVOC.

The LCI list was based on the proposed harmonized EU LCI values as published by JRC. For substances for which no EU-LCI value exists, it included the German LCI value (“NIK”). This procedure makes the Belgian list an almost Europe-wide harmonized LCI list.

LCI means “Lowest Concentration of Interest” and is a limit value for the emissions of VOCs into indoor air under normative conditions after 28 days storage in an emission test chamber.
