Blue Angel ecolabel: Wooden floorings, doors, furniture


The German ecolabel “Blue Angel” issued

  • updated criteria for furniture (RAL UZ 38)
  • new criteria for wooden floorings, boards and doors (RAL UZ 176)

These criteria are based mainly on the AgBB testing scheme (3 and 28 days, but different limit vaues).

The applicable chamber parameters are defined by the area specific ventilation factor q:

RAL UZ 38:

  • q = 1,0 m³/m²h – furniture, pieces of furniture;
    with a standard air change rate of 0,5 per hour, this means a loading factor of 0,5 m²/m³

RAL UZ 176:

  • q = 1,25 m³/m²h – floorings;
    with a standard air change rate of 0,5 per hour, this means a loading factor of 0,4 m²/m³
  • q = 0,5 m³/m²h – boards;
    with a standard air change rate of 0,5 per hour, this means a loading factor of 1,0 m²/m³
  • q = 2,0 m³/m²h – doors;
    with a standard air change rate of 0,5 per hour, this means a loading factor of 0,25 m²/m³
